Hemp Extract for Anxiety

There has been a lot of discussion about the medicinal properties of CBD and the potential value it can bring those who suffer from a variety of illnesses.

Anxiety is one of those illnesses that studies have shown CBD to be extremely beneficial for. A 2012 study showed that CBD has the same properties of a pharmaceutical  “anxiolytic” drug. Basically this means that CBD has the same affect on the body as your typical anti-anxiety medication that big pharma produces. The study went on to state that they believe CBD can be an effective treatment for social anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

A study in 2011 tested the a group of 24 people with social anxiety disorder that have never been treated during a public speaking even. Half the group received CBD and the other half a placebo. The test concluded that those who received CBD, “significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort in their speech performance, and significantly decreased alertness in anticipation of their speech.” Compared to those who received the placebo who experience and increased anxiety leading up to and during the public speaking.

In conclusion it seems we have yet again found another illness that can benefit from this incredible and all natural compound.

CBD the Natural Treatment for Schizophrenia

CBD continues to demonstrate healing properties and maybe none greater than its potential as a natural treatment for Schizophrenia. A 2o12 review showed that studies have shown that CBD “appears to have a pharmacological profile similar to that of atypical antipsychotic drugs.” All of this while appearing to have minor to no adverse side effects.

An additional review published in 2015 states, “The first small-scale clinical studies with CBD treatment of patients with psychotic symptoms further confirm the potential of CBD as an effective, safe and well-tolerated antipsychotic compound, although large randomised clinical trials will be needed before this novel therapy can be introduced into clinical practice.”

While test are still in their infancy stage there is a lot of hope that CBD can treat mental illness in general and specifically can help those suffering from schizophrenia.

As always the purity of the CBD is important. Want to learn more about CBD? Click here

CBD Can Help with Arthritis

A study in the European Journal of Pain concluded that “transdermal administration of CBD has long-lasting therapeutic effects without psychoactive side-effects.”

What does this mean? It means that millions of people can start living their life again without experience the excruciating pain of arthritis. The study showed that after 4 days of use, there was a significant reduction of pain.

In 2014 a review showed in preclinical studies there was evidence to support the use of CBD in the treatment of osteoarthritis.

A 2017 study found that CBD might be a safe and useful treatment for OA joint pain.

Of course more tests will be done in the coming years, but this is a great sign of potential treatments for this debilitating disease.

Hemp Extract for Pain Relief

There have been dozens of studies done to measure the effectiveness of CBD as a pain reliever and anti-inflamatory and the results are pretty clear….it works. Not only does it work really well, it shows minor to no side effects.

One study that was published in 2012 in the Journal Experimental Medicine showed that CBD significantly suppressed chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain. In 2007, in Canada, a meta-analysis was conducted and showed an effective in treating neuropathic pain in multiple sclerosis. (This study was a combination of CBD with THC)

Another study that was published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine shows that pain and inflammation can be reduced through the use of CBD. Another incredible result of this study was that subjects show no build up of tolerance to CBD meaning that there was no need to continually increase the dosage. The study concluded by stating that CBD is a useful treatment for people with chronic pain.

The side effects…

While most subjects showed no sign of side effects there have been a few reported side effects. The few reported have been; tiredness, change in appetite, weight gain or loss, and diarrhea.

While nobody wants to experience any side effects (and the vast majority don’t) these side effects don’t seem that bad to me. Especially in comparison to the laundry list that is read at the end of every pharmaceutical commercial which usually ends with, “may cause death.”

I don’t know about you, but I’ll take diarrhea over death any day!

Is Hemp Extract legal?

There has been so much confusion regarding the legality of CBD over the last few years. Up until 2014, it was illegal to grow industrial hemp (hemp containing less than .3% THC). However, with the passing of the farm bill, we are now allowed to grow industrial hemp. Several states have passed laws allowing citizens to become licensed industrial hemp farmers. Why is this important? Because prior to 2014, while we couldn’t grow hemp we could import it (typical bureaucratic nonsense). Not only was this policy a disservice to the American farmer, but also the consumer. Since most imported hemp is grown in toxin rich soil, the hemp absorbed the toxins and the consumer was left with products full of impurities and toxins.

So the 2014 Farm Act legalized growing hemp in the U.S., but what about hemp extract and specifically CBD? Most of the confusion stems from the CSA (controlled substance act) from the 1970’s when America declared “war on drugs.” The confusion has been increased by the DEA making claims that all forms of CBD is illegal. However in the 2003 case of HIA (Hemp Industries Ass’n) v DEA, the court ruled that industrial hemp was specifically excluded from the CSA and therefore all products derived from it are not subject to enforce under the CSA. This ruling states clear as day in its conclusions that,

“Congress knew what it was doing and its intent to exclude non-psychoactive hemp from regulation is entirely clear.”

The DEA however seems to continue blatantly ignore the courts ruling and as recently as 2017 is back in court again with the HIA. While this may cause some concern for people, the DEA is 100% out of line and the court has already ruled that they (DEA) have no jurisdiction over non-psychoactive hemp. This is nothing more than complete government overreach.

It is clear that CBD from industrial hemp is legal based on court rulings and that growing industrial hemp is legal based on the 2014 Farm Act and thus CBD hemp extract can and should be used by all who suffer from any ailments that can benefit from it.

What is Hemp Extract?

First off, Hemp is natural plant that happens to be part of the cannabis family. So then is hemp marijuana? No, while being cannabis there are some major differences. Apart from differences in appearance, the major difference is what compounds are inside the plant. Marijuana is a psychoactive plant that is high in THC whereas Hemp is high in cannabidiol (CBD) and has no psychoactive effect on the body. Now that you know the major difference lets learn about hemp extract.

Hemp extract is basically essential the oils of the hemp plant. However there is a major difference between the makeup of a simple cold-pressed hemp oil and a hemp extract that has been distilled through the supercritical CO2 method. Hemp oil (cold-pressed type) can have benefits such as Omega fats and other things like that, but the true medicinal benefits come from a hemp extract that is distilled through the clean and pure practice of the supercritical CO2 method. Supercritical CO2 is a form of extraction that is used for many extracts. It occurs whenUSP Grade Liquid CO2 is heated with increased pressure, which gives it the properties of a liquid and a gas, helping it go through the hemp as well as extract the product from it.  We prefer it because it is the only solvent free method of extraction currently.

Extracting the product with solvent free methods leads a cleaner and more pure extract. The biggest benefit to this method is being able to extract the cannabidiol compound or CBD, which is basically all the medicinal properties of medical marijuana without the side effects of getting high. Be very cautious of an hemp extract that does not specifically state that it contains cannabidiol or CBD.

CBD is a compound that is one of many found in the cannabis plant and has been studied and shown to provide multiple benefits to many common issues that people struggle with. CBD is the major nonpsychoactive compound that is present in the Cannabis Sativa. What does that mean, it means that CBD does not effect your mental state or alter your state of mind in any way.

A study publishes in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology has shown medicinal benefits in the following conditions; anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, antiemetic, anxiolytic and antipsychotic agent, and is therefore a potential medicine for the treatment of neuroinflammation, pain relief, arthritis, epilepsy, stress, vomiting and nausea, anxiety and schizophrenia.

Why have I never heard of CBD?

Well that’s pretty simple, prior to 2014 it was illegal to grow industrial hemp in the U.S. However, since the passing of the farm bill we are now allowed to grow industrial hemp and benefit from its amazing healing properties. Industrial hemp is a certain type of hemp that is shown to have less than .3% levels of THC. This is in comparison to “medical marijuana” that you find in dispensaries today with levels as high as 20-30% THC. Due to the extremely low level of THC it is impossible to get high off of Industrial Hemp. However industrial hemp is high in the CBD compound which brings with it all the medical benefits. It is basically an anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, muscle relaxing, sleep aid that has been shown to help with mental illness, arthritis, and different types of cancer all while being completely natural with very minor to no negative side effects.

Is all industrial hemp the same?

No, it is very important to know the source of the hemp that is used in any product containing it. Hemp has natural soil detoxing properties, meaning that hemp will absorb the toxin that are found in the soil where it is being grown. This is extremely important, the majority of hemp available today is imported from Asia and grown in area with high levels of metallic toxins presence in the soil. Obviously you want to make sure that any hemp product you consume comes from the US and is extracted in a clean and pure fashion.

Final Thoughts

CBD almost sounds too good to be true and more tests and trials need to be completed; however, the initial results are fantastic and we have no reason to believe that any future tests/trials will show different results. I believe in CBD and I also believe that big pharma will not be a fan and thus do everything they can to slow CBD’s integration into mainstream medicine.

Again just make sure the extract you are looking for comes from industrial hemp grown in the U.S., and that it is extracted using the supercritical CO2 method and is solvent free. Also make sure it contains CBD otherwise you will not be receiving all the benefits we’ve discussed in this article.

How Non-GMO crops are saving animal health!!!

Do you ever wonder what farmers have to say about GMO vs Non-GMO crops?  More and more farmers are growing non-gmo crops to feed their animals.  They have seen improvement in the animals overall health once they switched to non-gmo crops.  The animals are gaining weight, reproducing and having less illness.  If non-gmo crops have that effect on animals how much more would it affect you and I.

“A growing number of farmers are reporting health problems with farm animals fed genetically modified feed and saying that animal health improves when feed is switched to non-GMO

When Troy Knoblock, a farmer who operates a hog nursery in Rock Rapids, Iowa, switched from feeding his animals GM feed to non-GMO feed several years ago he didn’t think there would be a difference. In fact, he says: “We laughed about it.”

But he did see differences in the health of his sows and young hogs. Knoblock, who keeps extensive records of his operation, found that drug treatments for sicknesses were cut in half. Sow conception rates increased from percentages in the 80s to 90s, and the size of hog litters increased.

The switch to non-GMO feed “has made my operation a lot more enjoyable,” Knoblock says.

Over the past few years, Knoblock has also gradually increased plantings of non-GMO crops; this year all his corn and 75% of his soybeans will be non-GMO.

“We have been very happy with yields of everything,” he says.

Jon Blomgren, who works with Knoblock, agrees. “Switching to non-GMO lowered our input costs. The seed is much cheaper, about $150-$160 per bag, while GM seed can cost $300 per bag.”

Knoblock thinks more farmers will switch to non-GMO production. “There is interest out there, and it’s catching on a lot,” he says.

Knoblock is one of an increasing number of farmers reporting better animal health with non-GMO feed. Steve Tusa, who raises beef cattle in Alpha, Minnesota, has seen improvements in his herd with the use of non-GMO feed. Cattle deaths due to digestive problems or pneumonia have been cut in half from 1.2% of his herd to 0.6%.

Tusa grows 1400 acres of non-GMO corn, most of which he uses for feed.

“The yields are good as or better than my neighbor’s traited (GM) corn,” Tusa says.”

ORGANIC VS CONVENTIONAL

For years we have heard how conventional farming out performs Organic, but is that really true?  Do we have any real studies? Studies not paid for by special interest groups!!  Well guess what, now we do.  The Rodale Institute has concluded its 30 year trial study of organic vs conventional farming.  The results may shock some of you.

“Organic farming is far superior to conventional systems when it comes to building, maintaining and replenishing the health of the soil. For soil health alone, organic agriculture is more sustainable than conventional. When one also considers yields, economic viability, energy usage, and human health, it’s clear that organic farming is sustainable, while current conventional practices are not.”

“after thirty years of a rigorous side-by-side comparison, the rodale institute confidently concludes organic methods are improving the quality of our food, improving the health of our soils and water, and improving our nation’s rural areas. Organic agriculture is creating more jobs, providing a livable income for farmers, and restoring america’s confidence in our farming community and food system.”

“Fst Facts

Organic yields match conventional yields.

Organic outperforms conventional in years of drought.

Organic farming systems build rather than deplete soil organic matter, making it a more sustainable system.

Organic farming uses 45% less energy and is more efficient.
conventional systems produce 40% more greenhouse gases.
Organic farming systems are more profitable than conventional.”

Do you think the main stream media will report this study and its findings???
